Tried Sora for the first time tonight. The sushi was great, the chicken katsu was exceptional, and the chef was happy to make a veggie substitution for us. The bao buns were 90% unrendered fat and completely inedible, though, and it's worth mentioning that the miso butter is added to the salmon nigiri omakase hot enough that it cooks the fish -- but still tasty. The galbi short ribs were tough but nicely flavored, just not cooked long enough to break down the connective tissue to get them tender. The service from our waitress Ashley was outstanding, it was clear that she really cared about diner experience.

Delicious dishes & pretty decor! My favorites were the Forbidden City Noodles and the Midnight Ceviche…extremely flavorful & fresh! Also, the Bluefin Tuna Royale was a big wonderful mouthful of beautiful cuts of tuna!

A hidden gem in Carborro Loved the decorations loved the sushi . Sushi well priced and taste great Miso soup & seaweed salad were delicious I would definitely go back

The food was wonderful! It was a busy night and the service was naturally a bit slow, but that’s fine and expected! Our waitress was wonderful, the owner came out to help bc they were so busy, which gave us a minute to chat with him. I cannot recommend this place more. Crispy tuna rice, bahn Mi tacos, and the queso fundito were all wonderful, as were the drinks. I will be back.

5/2026 Sora Sushi & Bar: I missed the news that La Montagna had changed names and style. Same owners so I’m happy because from prior experience I know the owner strives to provide a great dining experience. So this visit we had amazing sushi and drinks. Still a great vibe, still amazing cocktails. Sushi was fresh and our waitress was attentive. Even during the middle of the week they get busy and I see why. Definitely worth return visits. 6-2025 La Montagna Finally got around to dining here. Actually, we’ve eaten at their sister restaurant (which is like two doors down) a few times & the last time we were there they had run out of a dessert we wanted & after telling us that they were out they came back to the table to tell us “hold on we may be able to find a solution”. Apparently they called over to La Montana to see if they could help out & the owner actually brought over a similar dessert. The fact that they didn’t just say sorry we’re out and moved onto the next patron but actually made calls, made me feel valued & we made it a point to ck out La Montana. We were not disappointed.
